About

Fadó is an Irish-language word meaning "long ago" which storytellers in Ireland, called Seanachaí (pronounced shan-a-key), would traditionally begin stories with. Starting a story with "Fadó Fadó..." is similar to saying "a long time ago…" or "once upon a time…” and is often used in Celtic mythology.

At Fadó, we specialise in authentic Irish Traditional and Celtic-themed production music, designed to elevate Films, Trailers, TV Productions, Games, Adverts and more. Through our library we aim to tell the story of Ireland’s musical history - by reimagining Traditional songs as contemporary arrangements and creating Celtic-style covers of commercial songs.

Each song in our library has been arranged, recorded and produced in Ireland by professional Irish musicians, and we have carefully selected each song by hand. Some of the oldest pieces included are Mo Ghile Mear (1740s), The Parting Glass (1770s) and O’Carolan’s Dream (a.k.a. O’Carolan’s Farewell, mid 1700s). Every Traditional song in the library has been rearranged so that we own 100% copyright for both master and publishing.
